Widening of Interstate 77 from four to six lanes between Everett Road and State Route 21 in Bath and Richfield Townships.

ODOT 2026 Culvert/Drainage Maintenance Project

The Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) proposes to perform culvert and drainage maintenance operations in various locations in Summit and Portage Counties, two of which would be in Richfield, Ohio.

State Route 176Richfield Township, Summit County: Replacement of a culvert under State Route 176 between Wakefield Run Boulevard and Newton Road. State Route 176 will be closed between Wakefield Run Boulevard and Newton Road for approximately fourteen (14) consecutive days.  An official detour route will be posted utilizing State Route 303, State Route 94 and State Route 82.

State Route 303Richfield Township, Summit County: Replacement of a culvert under State Route 303 between White Pine Drive and Sawbridge Drive. State Route 303 will be closed between White Pine Drive and Sawbridge Drive for approximately thirty (30) consecutive days.  An official detour route will be posted utilizing State Route 176, Interstate Route 77 and Interstate Route 271.

I-77 Rest Areas in Summit County Closing October 14, 2025 for Replacement

I-77 Rest Area

SUMMIT COUNTY - The Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) District 4 will be replacing and improving the I-77 northbound and southbound rest areas located in Summit County, just north of Ira Rd. Both rest areas will close on Tuesday, October 14, 2025 through late November 2026.

Originally constructed in 1986, the current facility will be replaced with new re-imagined rest areas which will include a lodge-style design with high- ceilings, upgrades such as rocking chairs, benches, and covered picnic tables will be included in the replacement. Some of the other features of the new rest areas will include inside vending, landscaping with native Ohio plants, a Storybook trail for families, a pet walk, music featuring Ohio artists, and tourism information about northeast Ohio.
